Record Cleaning Machines

Hannl Limited record cleaning machine

We were always sceptical of the value of a good RCM until we found this machine. Manufactured for us by H G Hannl in Germany, the Limited is an outstanding performer. We couldn't believe how records that we thought had pressing faults when new improved after they were cleaned by this machine

It is quiet and efficient in operation and we were impressed with the way the acyrlic bodied machine kept all the fluids inside it, making it possible to keep it close to the record collection. Constructed from acrylic, aluminium and steel, there are no parts that may be susceptible to damp.

The silver cap, front right, covers the cleaning fluid top up opening. The brush (rear right) distributes an even dose of cleaning fluid across the record. Current production models have a chromed clamp with rubber seal that fully protects the record label.

Brush washing for one revolution in each direction is usually sufficient (controlled from switches at the front). The vacuum head (rear left) is then moved into place over the record and the fluid and contamination are removed in one revolution of the platter. The vacuum can operate at two speeds - we find the lower one sufficient.

We have a machine available for demo and you are invited to bring some of your dirty records along for a no-obligation trial.

This isn't the cheapest RCM available, however there are none quieter or as well engineered and built.

£1550 (with free next day shipping for UK orders, if applicable)

We also offer the more sophisticated Hannl Mera, which has infinitely variable control of speed and vacuum. A brief review (pdf) can be downloaded from The Absolute Sound's website.
