Soundsmith has been established in New York State for 17 years and has gathered a first class reputation for repairing and restoring classic audio equipment. However, founder Peter Ledermann was formerly engineering director with two major US hi fi companies and has continued to design and develop innovative audio products.
When Bang & Olufsen ceased manufacturing their phono cartridge range, Soundsmith negotiated the right to manufacture. Sustained attention to materials, geometry and manufacturing tolerances have led to the introduction of Soundsmith's own range of moving iron cartridges.
The Soundsmith product attracting the most attention recently is the revolutionary Strain Gauge cartridge which gets music replay closer to the master tape than any digital recording or other phono cartridge.
